Ridiculously Underrated Band – Sincere Engineer

I saw these guys at Lollapalooza this summer, and to be totally honest, I had exactly zero intention of even seeing them. I had never heard of them. I was there to see other people like Portural the Man, and Sabrina Carpenter (seriously, she is great live), The 1975, and others. to be TOTALLY honest, the only one I REALLY cared about on Friday was Carpenter. I had to work Friday, but since I work remote, I can go where ever I need to be, so I worked in Chicago out of my hotel room for the day and headed over to the concert in the early afternoon. Our plan was to just grab some food, wander around a bit, and relax until she came on. But as we were walking around there was a kiosk that was selling ice cream that we went to and they were playing music there and it was someone I didn’t know. Sort of reminded me of like Dinosaur Jr or Sonic Youth, and I asked the person who it was and they told me it was Sincere Engineer. At first I’m like, “why do I know that name” then realized they were on the sheet for playing that day, in fact they were playing in 15 minutes. So at that point, I was like, “Hmm, shit, might as well go catch these guys”. So we went over to the stage they were on, and it was ONE HELL of a set. They were obviously nervous, giant ass show, home town, small band. How much they were nervous but clearly pumped to be on that stage actually added to the whole vibe. In fact, before I get into telling you who these guy are, here is that full hour long set they played. Of the 30 or so sets we caught over the 3 days we were there, this ended up being the 2nd best we saw. Carpenter was #1. Billie Eilish on the other hand? Fuck me that was some BORING ass garbage. I know the kids love her, but jumping up and down to the dullest songs imaginable, the show had ZERO energy to it. I mean, it would be like running around, jumping up and down pumping your fists in the air to “Cats in the Cradle” A.K.A the most depressing song ever). Funny thing is, even though I have only heard of these guys for a couple months, according to stats.fm I am the #342 most frequent listener to them on spotify. I’ll admit, there is not a whole hell of a lot about them online, so trying to dig stuff up is pretty minimal. Any how, here we go.
